GetYourGuide Accelerates Organic Growth With a Rebuilt SEO Program, Developed in Partnership With Compose.ly

PROBLEM

GetYourGuide needed to scale SEO content fast without sacrificing quality or customer trust.

Travelers don’t book trips on a whim. They research destinations weeks or months in advance, reading guides and building confidence long before clicking “Book now.” To meet travelers at this critical discovery stage, GetYourGuide — a global marketplace for tours, attractions, and travel experiences — needed to continue scaling its SEO content footprint.

Associate Production Lead Martin Hamery and Editorial Lead Lydia Winter set an ambitious goal: publish 4,000 articles in just six months.

They brought in Compose.ly alongside another vendor that relied heavily on AI-generated content. The plan was to split the workload three ways: GetYourGuide’s internal team, the other vendor, and Compose.ly.

As production ramped up, it became clear that the other vendor couldn’t deliver the quality and scale GetYourGuide needed.

"[Their approach] never got the article close enough to what we needed," said Martin. "It just couldn't deliver the scale that we needed."

Frustrated with these limitations, Lydia and Martin decided to shift the workload and split it 50/50 with Compose.ly—a partner who could deliver high-quality, human-written content at scale with measurable SEO growth and ROI, while keeping brand voice and editorial accuracy consistent across multiple teams.

Compose.ly's Sr. Account Manager Robert Bernsteen and Head of Editorial, Ashley Strosnider, worked closely with Martin and Lydia to build a production system that could meet their editorial and SEO goals.

Ashley assembled a dedicated team of 52 writers and 20 editors, making sure there was enough capacity to support large-scale production.  Production grew from 50,000 words per month to more than 430,000 words at its peak, without sacrificing editorial standards.

Collaboration was central to the partnership. Ashley aligned editorial strategy with GetYourGuide’s brand voice and SEO priorities. Together, both teams focused on producing content that balanced search performance with authentic travel storytelling.

“We're really happy with the collaboration and the quality," said Martin. "We had weekly meetings and could share what's going well and other feedback. That’s good collaboration — feeling secure in knowing that if we ask to ramp up this amount by next month, it will happen.”

Over time, the Compose.ly team became a regular part of GetYourGuide’s marketing operation. A style guide created to support the writers proved so useful that GetYourGuide adopted it internally. By the end of the project, Compose.ly had delivered nearly 2.2 million words across more than 1,600 articles, supported by a production model the team could rely on.

RESULTS 

Compose.ly helped GetYourGuide grow its organic search traffic significantly.

Optimized pages on GetYourGuide’s editorial platform started ranking for high-intent keywords related to destinations and experiences. This boost in visibility helped them reach a larger audience in the competitive travel market.

Behind the performance gains, the partnership also delivered meaningful operational improvements. Clear workflows and predictable delivery reduced internal friction and made large-scale content production easier to manage. Just as importantly, the process itself became more transparent.

Martin noted, “We were able to learn quicker how to actually scale because I understood the process Compose.ly was going through and could ask questions.”
